How Erling Haaland Traded 30 Touches For 5 Goals

Erling Haaland, the Norwegian former striker of Borussia Dortmund, scored five goals in just 30 touches during Manchester City’s Champions League victory against RB Leipzig.

The 22-year-old player scored a hat-trick in the first-half of the match, and then went on to add his fourth and fifth goal in the second-half. He accomplished the feat in just four minutes, highlighting his remarkable efficiency in front of the goal.

Manchester City thrashed Leipzig 7-0, booking their place in the quarter-finals of the tournament with an 8-1 aggregate score. Haaland’s five-goal haul has increased his tally to 39 goals in all competitions this season. He also holds the top spot as the leading scorer in the Champions League, with 10 goals this campaign.

Haaland’s impressive performance was denied a record-breaking double hat-trick in the Champions League. He jokingly said to manager Pep Guardiola following his substitution, “I told Pep when I went off that I would love to score a double hat-trick, but what can I do!”

Regarding his team’s victory, Erling Haaland expressed his pride in playing in the Champions League, saying:

“This was a big night. I love this competition – as everyone knows. Five goals to win 7-0 at home, I am so happy!”

Erling Haaland attributed their success to their pressing tactics, especially when playing at home. He also praised his team’s ability to win the ball high up the pitch and move forward quickly, working the ball to Kevin de Bruyne.

Haaland provided some insight into his goal-scoring ability, saying:

“For a lot of my goals, I am not really thinking too much. My intention is always just to get the ball into the back of the net, to be quick in the mind and to do the right thing by instinct – by getting the ball past the goalkeeper. Obviously some of that is quality, but a lot of it is in the head.”

Manchester City will now prepare for their quarter-final fixtures in the Champions League ahead of its draw.
