How Chelsea's failure could be a win for Liverpool

A Chelsea failure becomes Liverpool’s own gain…

Liverpool could be in to turning a negative into a positive following Chelsea’s recent shortcoming in the market with Michael Olise. The Reds, who have been grappling with notable player departures, seem poised to capitalize on Chelsea’s misfortune.

Having seen key players like Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita leave, Liverpool has been actively seeking reinforcements.

The team has recently welcomed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, signaling their intent to shore up their squad.

However, the pursuit of several key targets had been hindered by Chelsea’s successful maneuvers.

Liverpool’s interest in Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia was thwarted as the players opted for Stamford Bridge over Anfield, despite fee agreements with Brighton and Southampton.

Undeterred by these setbacks, Liverpool has been diligently exploring alternatives.

A breakthrough seems imminent as the club closes in on securing the services of Stuttgart’s Japanese international, Wataru Endo, for a reported fee of approximately €19 million.

Interestingly, Chelsea‘s own transfer struggles might inadvertently work in Liverpool’s favor.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise hit a snag after the Frenchman signed a new four-year contract with his current club, nullifying the activation of his £35 million release clause.

This twist could potentially open a window of opportunity for Liverpool, particularly concerning their interest in Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure.

Jurgen Klopp’s admiration for Doucoure has been well-documented, and the club had reportedly intensified efforts to secure the 23-year-old’s signature.

Crystal Palace, however, was initially hesitant due to the departures of key players like Wilfried Zaha and Luka Milivojevic.

With Olise committing to the club, Liverpool’s pursuit of Doucoure might gain traction if the Reds submit an appealing offer.

Sources suggest that Palace could be tempted to consider bids for Doucoure, who has been valued around £60-£70 million, now that the Olise situation has stabilized.

In addition to Doucoure, Liverpool is believed to be eyeing other midfield talents, including Joao Paulinha from Fulham and Khephren Thuram from Nice.
