How armed robbers attacked banks, killed many in Uromi, Edo State [GRAPHIC VISUALS]

Yet-to-be-identified gang of armed robbers attacked multiple commercial banks in Uromi town, Edo State, killing several people.

 

The attacks happened on Thursday evening, February 24, 2022.

 

A video that captured the moment robbers carted away money from one of the commercial banks they robbed in Uromi area of Edo state, has been shared online.  Six persons were killed following the gunmen attack on commercial banks in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, a police official said.

 

According to residents, 5 banks were affected in what residents say was a “coordinated” attack.

 

Videos and photos from the scenes of the attacks show bodies laying on the floor with blood seeping out of them.

 

At least 2 police officers, one female and one male, were killed during the attack.

The Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Kontongs Bello, confirmed the attacks.

 

Residents claimed that security forces didn’t come to their aid as the robbery lasted for 2 hours.
