"Honeymoon will soon be over" — Hargreaves warns Amorim

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has warned new coach Ruben Amorim that his honeymoon with the team will be a short-lived affair if he doesn’t address some glaring tactical concerns facing the Red Devils.

Despite an impressive debut win against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League, Amorim’s reliance on a two-man midfield is raising eyebrows ahead of high-stakes Premier League clashes with Arsenal and Manchester City.

“The Super Eagles job interests me” — Ex-Man United coach

Hargreaves, analyzing the game on TNT Sports, noted that the dynamic duo of Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte lacks the physicality and athleticism required to hold their ground against Arsenal’s relentless pressing or City’s fluid dominance.

“If you’re going to play two in midfield, they need to be super-athletes. I’m not sure United has that right now,” he cautioned.

The tactical gamble worked against Bodo/Glimt, but Hargreaves believes Amorim will need to rethink his setup, possibly dropping one of the attacking No.10s into midfield or leaning on wing-backs to create the width.

“It’s a work in progress, but facing teams like Arsenal or City with this setup will be really, really difficult,” he added.

With United fans craving a return to dominance, Amorim faces a crucial test of adaptability.

Will he tweak his system to avoid being overrun, or will his bold approach prove his undoing against England’s top teams? Wednesday’s showdown with Arsenal could provide the answers.
