Nigerian veteran actress Hilda Dokubo was the latest guest on Rubbin’ Minds with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and she talked about the early days of her career, how Nollywood has grown over the years, and why she got into the industry.

She said she got into entertainment as a child and her parents supported her. She added that she continued in the industry after she graduated as a theatre artist.

She wants to have a role where she’d sing, dance, and act; or act as her twin; and act in a move or play where she speaks pidgin all through.

She also narrated her journey into public service, saying she wanted to “give back” to the society.

“If you can tell that this one is acting, then, it’s a bad job, and if any actor pays more attention to herself or himself whilst doing the role, again, you’re not doing your job,” she said, answering a question about mediocre actors.

“I’ve been on set and met young people who are busy fiddling with their phones while on set! This is the smallest of the offences,” she continued.
