He's better than me -- Steven Gerrard woos Bellingham

Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, has praised England midfielder, Jude Bellingham, after the youngster impressed during England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Following England’s 2-0 victory, which saw goals from Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka secure the win, Gerrard spoke to Channel 4 about Bellingham’s performance.

“Listen, let me tell you [Bellingham] right now, you are a lot further ahead than I was at your age,” Steven Gerrard said.

The former Liverpool captain went on to say that Bellingham was “more confident” on the ball than he was at the same age, and that he believed the 19-year-old was “further on” than he was at that point in his career.

Bellingham, who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, has been a standout performer for the German side this season, impressing both domestically and in the Champions League.

The midfielder made his debut for England in November 2020, and has since gone on to make 10 appearances for his country.

Steven Gerrard, who recently served as the manager of Aston Villa and Scottish side Rangers, enjoyed a glittering career as a player, winning numerous titles and awards, including the Champions League, FA Cup, and three League Cups with Liverpool.

His praise for Bellingham is high praise indeed, and suggests that the youngster has a bright future ahead of him in the game.
