In an exclusive address, Akpabio finally responded to the explosive allegations. Reflecting on the viral incident where he told Senator Natasha Akpoti they were “not at a club where someone needs to shout,” he acknowledged the backlash that ensued, including the harassment of his wife, whose phone number was leaked and subsequently overwhelmed with over three thousand calls daily, causing it to crash.

Akpabio expressed his amazement at the intense scrutiny and interest Nigerians have shown in the Senate’s affairs, but firmly denied the rumors, stating, “Contrary to popular belief, I only have one wife and I am quite happy with her.”

In a gesture of reconciliation, the Senate President also issued a direct apology to Senator Natasha, saying, “If my statement offended her, I am truly sorry.”
