Here are the best and worst performing airlines of 2016

    Airlines in Asian countries were the least under-performing in 2016.

    The information was obtained from Flightstats’ list of international airlines with the best on-time performance records.

    Flightstats, a leader in global flight information services, compiled its list based on the likelihood of getting delayed on each carrier.

    El Al was rated the worst airline with 56 percent, followed by Icelandair with 41.05 percent.

    The rest are Air India (38.71 percent), Philippine Airlines (38.33 percent), Asiana Airlines (37.46 percent), China Eastern Airlines (35.8 percent), Hong Kong Airlines (33.42 percent), Air China (32.73 percent), Korean Air (31.74 percent) and Hainan Airlines (30.3 percent).

    KLM was rated the best airline, with 11.47 percent likelihood of getting delayed while Iberia had 11.82 percent.

    The rest are JAL (12.2 percent), Qatar Airways (13.66 percent), Austrian (14.26 percent), ANA (14.46 percent), Singapore Airlines (14.55 percent), Delta Air (14.83 percent), TAM Linhas Aéreas (14.93 percent) and Qantas (15.7 percent).

    According to Jim Hetzel, vice president of aviation and distribution at FlightStats, compiling the list involved “data together from 500 different sources”.

    No Nigerian airline was listed among the best and worst airlines rated by FlightStats.
