Herbalist rapes 17-year-old female client during consultation

A supposed herbalist has been arrested in Ogun State for defiling his 17-year-old female client who came for consultation.

The Ogun state Police Command apprehended the herbalist identified as Samson Ogundele, at the Referefu area of Oja Odan, Ogun State.

The PRO of the Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi revealed that the client who is a hairdressing apprentice filed a report at Oja Odan Divisional Headquarters.

She narrated how a sum of N1,000 got missing in the shop, making all the nine apprentices consult the herbalist to know who stole the money amongst them.

After it was her turn for the consultation, the forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

Oyeyemi said: “On getting to the herbalist, he started calling them into a room one after the other after collecting N700 from them. The complainant stated further that the first and second persons entered and came out, and when it was her turn, she entered and the herbalist tried to rape her.

Upon her complaint, the DPO Oja Odan division, CSP Gabriel Ikechukwu, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and get him apprehended.

“It was while interrogating him that one of the girls, who is 17 years old, confessed that the herbalist had already had carnal knowledge of her when she met him at the consulting room. She stated further that the herbalist threatened that she would die if she informed anybody.

The victim was immediately taken to General Hospital Oja Odan, where the Doctor on duty confirmed that the girl had been defiled. The herbalist has confessed to the commission of the crime”.

The suspect was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Departments (SCIID), for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
