“He was like my Dad” — Naby Keita reacts to Klopp leaving
Former Liverpool midfielder, Naby Keita currently playing for his national team, Guinea at the African Cup of Nations has reacted to the news of Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
Following the 1-0 win over Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, the Werder Bremen player shared his thoughts on the upcoming exit of his former manager while speaking with reporters post-match.
The Guinean who had a mixed time with the Reds due to a series of fitness concern, expressed emotions when quizzed on what Klopp leaving Liverpool means and what he felt on hearing the news.
Naby Keita stated that it was quite hard for him hearing the news as he spent most of his Liverpool career seeing the German as a second father to him.
“When I heard the news, I had tears in my eyes. I was like his son in Liverpool and I consider him my dad.” he said.
Jurgen Klopp’s announcement of his exit from the Merseyside Reds took the world by storm, hitting the Liverpool fanbase harder upon confirmation.
With the season still running its course, the German still has more history to write with the team and though Klopp prefers to remain level headed about it, the remaining games will continue to draw in the emotions from far and wide.
