He Needs To Start Scoring Goals—Ian Wright slams Jesus

With football growing in the modern day and changing whatever we know about certain positions, so also have we seen strikers score less goals and do more of the general work. For Ian Wright, former Arsenal player and legend, he sees it somewhat annoying specifically in Gabriel Jesus not scoring more goals for Arsenal.

On Sunday, the Gunners zoomed off to a flying start against Nottingham Forest with a 5-0 victory to regain top spot from Manchester City with a 2 points lead maintained in the Premier League’s week 12.

For Ian Wright, he considers the only negative and disappointment being Gabriel Jesus failing to register a goal in the goal fest.

The Brazilian forward has now gone four league games without scoring but has made a significant contribution to the squad, contributing two assists today.

Gabriel Martinelli gave the Gunners the lead after 5 minutes of play, and Riess Nelson came off the bench to score twice. Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey also contributed to the score.

With two points more than Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, Arsenal reclaimed first place.

After the game, Wight called Jesus “clunky” and said that he ought to be scoring more goals.

“Arsenal need goals. They need goals from wherever they can get them from,” he said on Premier League Productions.

“We need people getting in the box, taking opportunities to shoot and score. We’ve got five goals today and our centre-forward [Gabriel Jesus] hasn’t scored.

“We want our centre-forward scoring as well.. He looks a little bit clunky.”

Definitely, Ian Wright has a point in being worried for the Brazilian considering there might come a time the Gunners would desperately need the player to be on the score sheet should the goals fail to come from other areas of the pitch.

For now, the Arsenal fans would have to take the weekend’s victory and push on to the next games.
