He is Useless to Chelsea—Sneijder Condemns Blues’ Target

A lot of hype often follows players linked with big clubs specifically when the transfer rumor mill starts, but for Wesley Sneijder, he is not letting himself fooled by Chelsea target, Edson Alvarez.

The former Inter Milan star, has labeled huge criticisms on the Ajax star, who from the transfer discussions, remains a top target for the West London side.

Alvarez, is a Mexico international, who has been quite a top performer for club and country over the past few seasons who was linked with a move to Chelsea over the summer as the Blues made a late move for the defensive midfielder.

In the final week of the transfer window, the Blues had made a bid of €50 million (£43.2 million), which Ajax had moved to block the transaction.

From reports, Alvarez remains a target for new Chelsea manager, Graham Potter’s team’s objective, and he might transfer to the West London side at a later time should Todd Boehly act on the prior interest.

For Wesley Sneijder, the Netherlands legend, sees the failure to ship off the player as his former club’s undoing as he sees the move as a money missed to get rid of a player not needed.

Sneijder criticized his previous team for failing to sell when he felt they had the chance.

“Edson Alvarez plays every ball backwards or sideways, he’s of no use,” the former attacking midfielder told Voetbal International.

“They [Ajax] should have taken him to London quickly. You could have signed two good players for that [amount of money Chelsea offered in the summer].” The former Inter Milan player, Sneijder says.

The Dutchman speaks based on the performances of the Mexican for Ajax and the player’s playing pattern which to Wesley Sneijder is unimpressive to how he wants his former side playing.
