Harry Maguire retains the captaincy of the Manchester United team, and for another season, Cristiano Ronaldo would be calling him ‘Captain’.

A stuff of fairytale isn’t it?

The player who has been at the helm of every criticism and banter by basically every pundit and fan, keeps on getting chances upon chances.

It’s become something that has left football fans asking if the player is some kind of a royalty for England or United to keep getting the kind of chances he is privileged to be given.

Most clubs don’t show the level of faith and trust the Old Trafford side has for a player who is famed for making errors leading to a goal.

It is even up to a debate that if Harry Maguire went by a different nationality, he may have been cast aside after one or two errors.

We saw it with fellow teammates Eric Bailey, Aaron Wan Bissaka and Paul Pogba who after few mistakes and antics were either stripped of the captaincy or dropped from the starting XI for a considerable length of time.

But Maguire has been faced by assault charges, errors on the pitch and heavy criticisms and for some reasons, Manchester United and its club hierarchy hold on faith with the player.

Not even the boos he receives from the supporters or the banters and negative press he brings to team performances seem to bother anyone.

He keeps getting the chances in the England set up even when fans would rather not want him to.

The former Leicester City player has made himself a mainstay in the Three Lions squad as he keeps getting recalled by England coach, Gareth Southgate.

With new Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag set to grant the Englishman yet another chance as he retains him as captain for next season, fans and neutrals of the game alike will be eager to see how his performances turn out.

Will it be an improvement or show once more how he remains the luckiest man alive who no harm can befall?
