Harry Maguire: He Should No Longer Play For United—William Gallas
William Gallas, a former Chelsea defender, asserted that Harry Maguire had no chance of returning to Manchester United.
He asserted that the reason the former Leicester City player has not been performing well at the Theatre of Dreams is that the club is “too large” for the Red Devils captain.
Maguire has been removed from the starting lineup for the Red Devils because boss Erik ten Hag prefers newcomers Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez to the English defender.
Maguire, however, has only played four times in the Premier League so far this year.
Gallas, a former active player for both Arsenal and Chelsea, stated that Maguire lacks the pace and agility needed by defenders.
This was said by the Frenchman in response to rumors that the England center-back would seek a transfer to Tottenham.
“Manchester United is too big for Maguire,” he told Genting Casino.
“That is why he has not performed there. I’m not sure if Tottenham will want him at the back.
“They need defenders but Maguire would not be good for them. He is almost 30 years old and he does not have as much speed as others. The older he gets, the less speed he will have.”
