Hadiza Buhari-Bello, one of the daughters of President Buhari, formed an NGO, Africa Support and Empowerment Initiative (AFRISEI), and registered it with the CAC on July, 2014.

Hadiza Buhari has faulted Dr. Oby Ezekwesili for saying that AFRISEI infringed on the franchise of Bring Back Our Girls group. Hadiza said her organization was a responsible body that would never engage in illegal activities by stealing someone else’s franchise. She explained that contrary to Ezekwesili’s allegation, her organization did not need to depend on the BBOG to achieve anything.

Hadiza explained that her organization had defined objectives and that it didn’t need to steal anybody’s ideas. She praised the BBOG but reiterated that her organization had loftier goals beyond the Chibok girls. She said though the Chibok girls were within the priority of their organization, its commitments to humanitarian causes did not end with Chibok schoolgirls.

“Given the size of the problem at hand, the more organizations we have assisting Chibok and other devastated communities, the better for the country,” she said. She added that AFRISEI is committed to empowering the youth and the less privileged in the area of job creation and skill acquisition.

She said there was no law that prevents the organization from assisting the Chibok schoolgirls. She added that, as a charity organization, they offer help to people in distress, including the Chibok girls and other Boko Haram victims. Hadiza failed to explain the part where her organization used the BBOG name and logo without permissions.
