Hackers prefer the Linux OS to windows; here’s why

I can’t tell you how I know this, but hackers seem to prefer the Linux OS for their nefarious activities.

You didn’t know this before, right?

Here’s why hackers prefer Linux OS to other operating systems.

1) Open Source:

One of the biggest reasons why hackers prefer Linux is the Open Source Initiative i.e the source code for the operating system is readily available for anyone to use and modify as you like, similar to Google’s mobile operating system, Android.

With access to the source codes of the operating system, hackers have full control of the process they execute, unlike it’s Windows counterpart. Most applications you find on Linux are also part of the Open Source Initiative i.e They are free to use.

2) Command Line Interface:

The Command Line Interface is also known as the CMD, as an important part of Linux distributions. The CMD are specially designed to control the activities of the whole operating system, anyone with a root access can run commands that can totally affect the system easily. This allows them to have complete control of the system as Linux was designed with a strongly integrated command line interface.

You might argue that the Windows operating system also has a command line interface too, but it is nothing compared to the Linux command interface. There are a whole lot of processes that you can run on the Linux interface, unlike Windows.

3) Privacy & Security:

Have you ever seen a Linux user complain of a virus? NO- Because they are rarely developed as users of Linux are known to be very technical and would not be a profitable target for exploits. Due to the open source nature of Linux, so many experts contribute daily to ensure all loopholes in the operating system are fixed in time, making it safer to use compared to it’s Windows counterpart.

Another great aspect that Linux support is Privacy. Hackers are popularly known to exploits people’s privacy by stealing private information -by doing so they need to stay hidden in order not to be hit by the hammer of the law. With just some pairs of tools, Linux, enables users to stay hidden and untrackable.

For the geeks, you might think: Windows also have VPN services.

But the truth is, even with a good VPN Windows still track your activities. Recently, Microsoft revealed why it collects users data , however, Linux doesn’t collect your data and information for its own gain and profit. The only reason why Microsoft is more popular is due to its ease of use- the graphic user interface, unlike Linux that focuses on the command line.

4) The King of Multitasking:

The way Linux is designed, it makes multitasking easy and comfortable, unlike Windows that coughs out and hang when multitasking. When you try to transfer and copy files from your Windows PC at the same time it hangs but Linux does it comfortably- it won’t also disturb any primary process.

5) Portable:

Portability is another strong game for Linux. You can use Linux without installing on your PC because almost all Linux distro has Live booting feature. You just need to place a distro ISO file in a USB Flash and run directly without installing on your device. Linux is light-weight and consumes fewer resources.
