Gunmen storm Adamawa State Police HQ in Yola
An unidentified group of assailants in the early hours of Wednesday launched a brazen attack targeting the Adamawa State Police Headquarters in Jimeta community in Yola, the state capital.
The sudden attack has stirred panic in the State capital, following reports of gunfire that echoed through the vicinity for approximately 30 minutes.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, assured the public that authorities were managing the situation. Nguroje acknowledged the attack, stating that efforts to control the situation were underway, although the identities of the perpetrators remained undisclosed.
While addressing the media, Nguroje affirmed that the attack had been successfully repelled, but the individuals responsible for the assault remained unidentified. Investigations have been initiated to ascertain the motive behind the attack and to apprehend those involved.
In a concerning development, unverified sources suggested a possible motive, speculating that the attackers might have been military personnel seeking retribution following an alleged incident where a military officer was purportedly killed by the police. However, this claim has not been substantiated by official statements or evidence.
