Gunmen hijack commercial bus, kidnap driver, passengers in Rivers

Rivers State Police Command says three passengers and a driver were kidnapped after gunmen hijacked a bus along Emohua axis of the East-West Road, TOPNAIJA.NG reports.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, while confirming the incident, said the armed men struck at Evekwu in Emohua.

Omoni added that commercial bus has been recovered while efforts were on to rescue the victims of the kidnap.

While disclosing the arrest of three suspected dreaded armed robbers terrorising Diobu in Port Harcourt, the image maker of the Police in Rivers state also said the command has deployed men to Bakana in Degema Local government area where suspected cultists killed two persons.

“I can confirm that a certain commercial bus that was coming from Lagos to Port Harcourt was attacked at the Evekwu axis of the East-West road.

“About three passengers and the driver were taken into the bush. Our men were deployed to the scene and were able to recover the bus. We have also made contact with the company and the DPO has said they are working on how they can rescue the victims.”

Gunmen terrorising the Emohua axis of the East-West road had Tuesday carried out a robbery on the road leaving many motorists and passengers stranded.
