Green Initiative: Tinubu unveils Eco-friendly hubs for Nigeria Police

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched the Nigeria Police Green Initiative and commissioned two key projects: the NPF National Cybercrime Centre and the NPF Resource Centre. These moves mark a significant step towards environmental sustainability and enhanced cybercrime operations within the Nigeria Police Force.

The Green Initiative will promote eco-friendly practices, including tree planting and green zones within police formations, aiming to reduce the environmental footprint of police activities.

The NPF National Cybercrime Centre, equipped with advanced technology, will serve as the central hub for combating cybercrime, while the NPF Resource Centre will support training and professional development with its state-of-the-art facilities.

Represented by Dr. Bosun Tijani, President Tinubu reiterated the government’s commitment to providing the police force with necessary resources and training. Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to leverage these projects to enhance policing and combat cybercrime effectively.

“The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will on Thursday 25th July, 2024, launch the Nigeria Police Green Initiative at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja. The Nigeria Police Green Initiative is an initiative of the NPF to promote environmental sustainability within our operations and facilities, as well as reduce the environmental footprint of our activities through the implementation of eco-friendly practices and the adoption of renewable energy sources.

The launch of this initiative will include various activities such as tree planting, the establishment of green zones within police formations, and the promotion of sustainable practices among police personnel. We believe that through this initiative, the Nigeria Police Force can contribute significantly to the global efforts to combat climate change and protect our environment for future generations.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu joined well-meaning Nigerian and policing stakeholders today 24th July, 2024, for the commissioning of two landmark projects of the Nigeria Police Force – the NPF National Cybercrime Centre and the NPF Resource Centre. The NPF National Cybercrime Centre is a state-of-the-art, ultramodern, and digitalized office complex dedicated to anti-cybercrime operations, and will serve as the central hub for national efforts to combat cybercrime, leveraging advanced technology and digital tools to enhance our operational capabilities. The NPF Resource Centre, also commissioned today, is a multifaceted facility that includes state-of-the-art conference halls and accommodation spaces for various events, designed to support a wide range of activities, including training sessions, conferences, and workshops, providing a conducive environment for professional development and collaboration.

The President, represented by the Honorable Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to investing in the NPF through provision of equipment, facilities, and adequate training while recognizing the importance of the NPF-NCCC in upholding national security and its alignment with the reformation agenda of Mr. President. He also called for interagency collaboration as a key to stamping out inter-agency rivalry.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, appreciated the President for his administration’s support to the technological advancement of policing in the country while assuring that the Force would make judicious use of the projects to showcase professionalism and clampdown on the activities of cybercriminals in Nigeria.”
