Graham Potter Tags Conor Gallagher Unlucky In Chelsea Squad

Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, has named midfielder Conor Gallagher as the Blues player who is “unlucky” in his team, following the Premier League 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday. Gallagher came off the bench in the game but has not started in Chelsea’s last eight games, with his last six appearances all being as a second-half substitute.

Potter acknowledged that Conor Gallagher would be frustrated over his lack of starts for the club. Speaking at his post-match press conference, he said:

“If he doesn’t start then there’s the chance he can be the first change. We used Kova and Enzo in midfield, that’s a tactical decision, and the front three at Kai, Joao and Pulisic, they are more dribblers.”

The Chelsea boss added that Gallagher has been “unlucky” because “whenever he comes on, he’s done really well”, but that the team values him highly as a fantastic team player.

Conor Gallagher, has made 23 appearances in the Premier League, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

Despite Gallagher’s strong performances, he has struggled to break into Chelsea’s first team, with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, and Jorginho ahead of him in the pecking order and with the signing of new players in Enzo Fernandez last January, the same goes on for next season depending on how chance changes its hands.

Conor Gallagher remains one of those Chelsea players who consistent gets mentioned for transfer exit but ultimately stays behind in the club.
