Governor Soludo speaks on meeting Tinubu over Peter Obi

Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has denied reports of a secret meeting with Bola Tinubu, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and president-elect.

Reports had emerged over the weekend claiming that Governor Soludo held a meeting with Tinubu at the Imo State Government House, Owerri, to stop Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate for the February 25 election, from pursuing the process to ‘reclaim the mandate’ through the court process.

Obi and the Labour Party had approached the court to challenge the emergence of Tinubu as the next president of Nigeria.

Tinubu was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election last Wednesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 8,794,726. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 6.96 million votes to come second, while Obi scored 6.1 million votes to come third, according to the official announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The report had claimed that Tinubu and Soludo held a secret meeting at the Government House in Owerri, Imo State.

However, in a statement by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo described the allegations as false and ridiculous.

He advised the public to disregard the claims, stating that people should come out to vote massively for the APGA in the State House of Assembly election to sustain the developmental strides of his administration.

Governor Soludo further added that if certain people could sit somewhere and cook up a story of this nature, it becomes highly reprehensible and certainly deserves to be condemned by every right-thinking person.

The statement suggests that the governor is focused on the election in his state and is not interested in playing any role in the presidential election dispute.
