Governor Siminalayi Fubara directs heads of Local Government to assume office following tenure expiry
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has directed all Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) across the state’s 23 local government areas to assume office starting today, Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
This directive comes immediately after the tenure of the 23 Local Government Area (LGA) Chairmen expired on Monday, June 17, 2024.
In a broadcast on Tuesday morning, Governor Fubara urged the HLGAs to take charge of their respective councils with renewed vigour and readiness to serve.
He emphasized the importance of filling the administrative vacuum left by the outgoing LGA Chairmen under the law and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Governor commended the outgoing LGA Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Councilors for their dedicated service to their communities, acknowledging their role in advancing the state’s development agenda. He congratulated them for completing their tenures and wished them success in their future endeavours.
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the people of Rivers State, pledging to continue defending their interests and promoting infrastructural development, healthcare, education, and comprehensive welfare services for all residents and workers.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers State for their unwavering support, which he described as pivotal to the achievements recorded across various sectors during his tenure. Governor Fubara assured the public of his administration’s determination to uphold law and order while providing effective leadership and direction for the state.
The Governor’s directive marks a pivotal moment in the transition of local government leadership in Rivers State, ensuring continuity and effective governance across all LGAs.
