Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State, is in our as he loses his mother, Mrs. Grace Akeredolu, to the cold hands of death.

In a statement released, the sad news of the mother of the Governor was announced by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Richard Olatunde, on Thursday, September 15.

According to the statement, the deceased passed on to glory peacefully in her sleep on Thursday morning at the age of 90 years.

“She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members.

“Further announcements will be made by the family in due course.”

Akeredolu was born on 21 July 1956 in Owo to Reverend J. Ola Akeredolu of the Akeredolu family and Lady Evangelist Grace B. Akeredolu of Aderoyiju family of Igbotu, Ese Odo, in Ondo State. He started his primary education at a government school in Owo. He proceeded to Aquinas College, Akure, Loyola College, Ibadan, and a comprehensive high school, Ayetoro, for his secondary school education and Higher School Certificate, respectively.

He went on to the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) to study law. The lawyer is currently the Governor of Ondo State and has been in office since 24 February 2017.
