Governor Amosun gives free houses to sweeper, traffic officer, others

On Monday, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun state governor rewarded a street sweeper, a traffic warden and three other civil servants with a house each for their dedication to duties.

The street sweeper whose name is yet to be ascertained and a traffic officer, Adekoya Folasade together with Wole Dosunmu and Waheed Adesina, both of ministry of information and strategy and Sule Isiaka who works with the governor’s office, were the lucky beneficiaries of two bedroom flats.

The Governor announced the gift during the presentation of keys to successful applicants of AAK Degun MITROS Estate in Laderin Area of Abeokuta.

Governor Amosun, while explaining the rationale behind the gift, said the he had been monitoring both the street sweeper and the traffic officer for quite a long time even without knowing their names.

The three other names were however picked from the list of outstanding civil servants compiled during the last Workers day in May.

All the beneficiaries who were not present at the event except Dosunmu were however invited to the programme through phone calls. Speaking with journalists after she was presented with the key to her flat, Adekoya who expressed suprise said she started traffic job as a volunteer with Holy Police with the Redeemed Christian of Church of God.

Adekoya who advised her co-workers to always show dedication to duty explained that she was only doing her job.

Meanwhile, 160 other public servants who successfully applied for the Estate named after the first Head of Service in the state also received keys to their apartments.

Delivering his key note address at the event, Amosun said the allocation was in further fulfilment of his promise to public servants in the state and a further fulfilment of his administrations affordable housing scheme.

He said, “Let me also use this opportunity to call on genuine individuals and corporate organizations, to partner with us. There are diverse opportunities for partnership in the provision of building materials; technological transfer; joint ventures; Build Operate and Transfer (BOT); and even Public- Private Ownerships and Estate Developments. I assure you all that you will find us to be reliable partners.”
