Governor Ambode, Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, Ola Brown, Akin Oyebode, Others For United Nations International Youth Day Mega Youth Conference

The Governor of Lagos State, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Founder of Rise Networks and Social Entrepreneur in Youth and Education Development, Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, Ola Brown, Founder Of Flying Doctors Nigeria, West Africa’s First Air Ambulance Service, Akin Oyebode, Executive Secretary
of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Rotimi Williams, Founder of Kereksuk Farms, the 2nd Largest Rice Farm in Nigeria and others have been unveiled as the Speakers for the 2018 edition of the Nigerian Commemoration of the United Nations International Youth Day Celebrations in Lagos.
The Mega Youth Conference designed and organized by Rise Networks, Nigeria’s leading Social Enterprise in Youth and Education Development with the support of the Lagos State Government, Nigeria Bottling Company, Guinness and Boomplay by Tecno, as a Thought Leadership Platform to recognize, celebrate and amplify the key roles of the enterprising and courageous youth in Lagos who strive daily serving in various capacities, running businesses of different kinds and sizes, creating jobs for other citizens making the State the 5th largest economy in Africa leading in all sectors that contribute to the state’s development is part of the activities lined up for the Lagos Youth Week being held in commemoration of the 2018 UN International Youth Day and the event is scheduled to hold
on the 11th of August, 2018 at the Blue Roof, LTV Complex, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
Apart from the Interactive Session with Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and other Guest speakers, there will also be Free Exhibition Stands for Youth Led Businesses and a highly anticipated Debate Session on the recently passed NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN BILL.
The 2018 Lagos Youth Week which is the first of its kind in the history of the State and indeed in any State in Nigeria will cover an entire Week across all the 20 Local Governments and 5 Divisions of Lagos State, the 5th Largest Economy and at least 50,000 – 100,000 students, young professionals, young artisans, young traders, graduates of tertiary institutions, young entrepreneurs to participate in the various Events lined up for 2018 Lagos Youth Week which began August 6 th and ends August 12th .
Rise Networks believes that these Events will serve as pivotal reminders of the intelligence, innovation, and creativity of Youth and the steady progress Lagos has made by mainstreaming the
voices of Youth, creating platforms for their empowerment and strengthening their roles in shaping the future of Lagos, Nigeria and Africa.
The week-long programme of activities aimed at creating safe spaces for Youth through education, economic empowerment and political inclusion and young People especially those at the grassroots will showcase the talent, skills, entrepreneurship and leadership capabilities of the Youth of Lagos. It will also feature a Mega Youth Musical Concert and 200 micro-businesses run by Youth in all the 20 Local Governments in Lagos State will win monetary prizes to boost their trades and micro-businesses
and scale up their growth in the 2018 Lagos Local Governments SME Competition which is currently ongoing.
