How Governor Akeredolu keeps suffering Ondo people – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Grassroots Mobilizers has asked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, to put human his governance of the State, TOPNAIJA.NG can confirm.

The party lamented the level of degeneration being witnessed in the state since the inception of Governor Akeredolu’s administration.

But, a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the PDP group’s claims as uninformed and ill conceived.

The group, Progressives Movement said the PDP was responsible for the bad state of infrastructures and huge debt limiting the development of the state.

State Coordinator of the PDP Grassroot Mobilizers Kunle Ajibogun had said “We noticed that pleasant news has not been coming from Ondo state in the past couple of months

“We, therefore, feel that continued silence in the face of the degeneration that has been witnessed by the state since Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu mounted the saddle of leadership is a disservice to our dear state.

“Pregnant women, with their protruding stomachs, had to protest last week before forcing the state government to reverse the outrageous hike in the cost of medical services in the state

“The state government also last week came out with its decision to increase tuition in the state-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, by between 500 and 800 percents

“The government had earlier stopped payment of WAEC fee for senior secondary school students. Free education has also been canceled at the secondary school level

“Another unpleasant piece of information reaching us is that the government has concluded plan to increase Land Use Charges in the state.”

Ajibogun said the burden created by the APC in the state was taking toll on the people, adding that it was becoming unbearable.

“It is our opinion that the burden is too heavy for the poor people of Ondo state. We, therefore, urge Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to give human face to the way he governs the state

“It is a lamentable irony that a governor elected on the platform of a supposedly progressive political party is destroying the much cherished legacies of free and affordable education and health in the state

“However, if the government is hard pressed and finds it unavoidable to raise cost of its services, it must not do it in a way that will take education and health services beyond ordinary people of Ondo state.”

But, the Coordinator of the Progressive Movement, Jimoh Ibrahim explained that government had not increased any fee for medical services in the state specialist hospital.

He said the protest by the pregnant women was caused by the introduction of N500 ante-natal care fee, which has since been reversed by the state government.

“The hospital management took that decision on its own. It acted alone. Government has said it knew nothing about it. I wonder what else our people want to hear

“To the best of my knowledge, Land Use charge has been put on hold till further notice. Adekunle Ajasin University tuition increment is inevitable,” Ibrahim said.
