On Monday, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s government ordered a dawn-to-dusk curfew to avoid a breakdown of law and order following INEC’s declaration of NNPP’s candidate as the winner of the governorship election.

The information and internal affairs commissioner, Muhammad Garba, made the announcement in a statement on Monday.

He said the decision was to prevent hoodlums from causing chaos in the already tense situation.

The commissioner called on people in the state to remain indoors as security agents would not spare anyone, or a group bent on causing trouble.

INEC had declared Abba Yusuf of the NNPP as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Kano, beating Deputy Governor Nasir Gawuna at the poll.

The results have generated tension in Kano, prompting the government’s proactive measures to avert chaos.
