Google to delete thousands of android Apps
Thousands of Android apps are set to be deleted from the Play Store starting August 31 as Google enforces its updated spam policy. This policy targets apps with “limited functionality and content.”
Google announced that Android apps targeted for deletion fall into three primary categories:
– Static Apps: Apps lacking specific functionalities, such as text-only or PDF file apps.
– Minimal Content Apps: Apps with very little content that fail to provide an engaging user experience, like single wallpaper apps.
– Non-functional Apps: Apps that serve no purpose or have no functional use.
Additionally, Google will focus on apps with broken functionality, such as those that crash, force close, freeze, or behave abnormally.

According to Android Authority, in 2023, Google prevented 2.28 million policy-violating apps from being published and rejected nearly 200,000 apps to enhance user protection.
Google emphasized that apps on the Play Store must provide a “stable, engaging, and responsive user experience.”
The company stated, “Apps that crash, lack the basic degree of adequate utility as mobile apps, lack engaging content, or exhibit other behaviour that is inconsistent with a functional and engaging user experience are not allowed on Google Play.”
This new policy highlights Google’s commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and user satisfaction on its platform.
