Gombe fire service saves lives, N20m worth of property from tanker inferno
Gombe State Fire Service has stated how the service saved lives and properties by foiling a tanker fire incident around mile three area of the metropolis.
A fire incident report on Wednesday disclosed that about N3m worth of goods were lost, while what was saved is estimated to be about N20m.
The fire service reportedly deployed its staff following a distress call that a tanker laden with Premium Motor Spirit had somersaulted.
The report claimed that the incident was capable of engulfing inferno within the area, stressing that the service alongside other collaborative agencies prevented the tanker from exploding.
Explaining the incident, Ayoba Sule said his men were able to arrest the situation, following the quick tip off.
Sule said, “The Tuesday occurrence was an accident involving a Tanker loaded with fuel that fell down in an open area of about 100 by 200 metres.
“The situation was controlled by the used of one medium Jet of water working from FFS 193 using foam and water in cooling the temperature of the tanker and the ground.”
He revealed that the number of casualty stood at zero, “Estimated property loss 3,000,000.00 and
estimated property saved 20,000,000.00.
However, Nigerian Red Cross Society Gombe State Branch Secretary, Murtala Aliyu; Nigeria Police force headed by Salisu Bauna; and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were among those that ensured the smooth process.
