"Go for Alexander Isak" -- Ferdinand tells Arsenal

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has suggested North London club, Arsenal put in the money for Newcastle United star, Alexander Isak in the January transfer window if they aim to still challenge for the premier league title.

Speaking via his FIVE podcast, the United legend insists the Swedish international could be the difference between Manchester City and Arsenal this season.

“Alexander Isak was running in behind constantly [against Manchester City]; if I’m Arsenal, I’m going all out and buying him,” Ferdinand said.

And noting the opportunity, Newcastle United’s current situation places for Arsenal, the former Centre Back defends his point, stating;

“Why? They can’t spend… they’re struggling with [profit and sustainability rules].”

The Magpies currently face an awkward situation with the Financial Fair Play regulations where they need to sell one of its star players after losing an approximate £150million in their latest financial reports.

The Gunners on the other hand face a situation where they need a clinical striker to chip in the goals for them, with names like Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Alexander Isak popping up.

So far for Newcastle, Isak has been impressive for Eddie Howe, scoring 10 premier league goals across 16 appearances to help the Magpies stay within the top 10 spots this season.
