‘Give yourself time to grow’ – Singer Timi Dakolo advises beginners

Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo had given a piece of advice to newbies in the music industry. He employ the to give themselves time to grow.

 

Timi Dakolo had stated that new comers in the music business should give themselves time to grow and learn because they are liable to mess up most times at the beginning but they should keep going because struggling is part of success.

 

From his statement, he urged beginners not to compare their efforts to another person’s 10 years of experience, stating that they should give themselves time to grow and learn because they will mess up a lot at the beginning.

 

“Just so you know, nobody started really really good. We learnt on the job. Your beginnings shouldn’t be compared to someone’s 10 years of experience. That’s so unfair to what you are building. Give yourself time to grow”, he stated.

 

“The truth is that, you are going to mess up a lot at the beginning. Flunk at your first try. Your first work will look nothing you have in mind. That’s ok.

 

“We all didn’t get it right at firat, it is possible the people you admire now were worse than you at the beginning. That part wasn’t just shown to you. So it’s ok if you are struggling at first, it’s part of the process.”

 

 

 

 

Timi Dakolo emerged winner of the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007. Accompanying his victory was a recording contract with Sony BMG, in addition to other prizes.
