Getting A Dream While In School

I saw a book by Robert few days ago that speaks of A students working for C students and immediately, I nodded my head in agreement. A lot of students, especially here in Nigeria make the ultimate mistake of scaling round school with no dreams at all. They dream of graduating with the best grade and getting employed in an oil firm. You see them making the library their home. You see them, getting buried in their own books. They lay castles on clouds, thereby deluding themselves of reality.

I’m not against dreaming big, I’m after grasping reality early in life. Most of these A students, after years of job haunting with no success, end up on streets and illegitimate businesses. So now, which is better? Building sand castles in the air, or grasping the reality that no job is waiting for you? In this article, let’s explore how you can get a dream, even while in school.

1. Your association: This is one of the factors that can make or mar you as a student. Irrespective of how tough you might claim to be, you can never escape the influence of friends. They are the ones in charge of over eighty percent of ideas that comes to you. The way your friends talk, behave or affect things can inevitably be inherent in you. As a student who dream of ending big, having the right set of friends can go a long way into making that a reality. Through your friends, you discover a dream that can be worked on. Most of the perfect partnership businesses in the world today is owned by sets of friends who discovered a dream together. Get the right association, and get a dream.

2. Your passion: Who said you can’t get a dream from the things you’re passionate for? This is usually the easiest way of discovering the path you’re to thread on. Maybe you have this passion for business, music, handcraft etc.. Discover that which you love and build a dream. Lots of successful entrepreneurs today surrounded their world with what they love. They created a niche out of their passion and today, they are successful. Talk about the Nigerian Queen of bloggers, Linda Ikeji. Talk about Dangote and numerous other entrepreneurs. One thing is common, they pursued passion and that lead to the discovery of their goldmine. I have also met numerous entrepreneurs who are successful in their field and it all geared to one thing, PASSION.

3. Find a problem: Most of the renowned personalities in the world today discovered a problem, and then a solution to it. Look around the society, which problem is evident and needs a solution? You can really hit the gold if you can provide a solution. If paraventure you see none, then it’s time to create one. This reminds me the advent of the computer virus. Some group of programmers needed a way of making money, instead of looking for a problem, they created one. They wrote a program we all know today as Virus and also created another program as a solution, the antivirus. Today, they are billionaires. If you can’t see a problem, please create one.

4. Support a dream: Perhaps you can’t find a dream, why not support one? There are many individuals who have big dreams, individuals who need partners and financial help. Why not support and be part of that big dream? You never can tell how that simple dream can change the world.

Getting a dream while in school can be a daunting task especially with distraction that’s evident in every campuses. But knowing that the future is close by prompts you into getting a dream as fast as possible.
