Gateman rejects House Offer, chooses Community Borehole as Parting Gift from Boss

An unusual gateman who is parting ways with his boss of 25 years is making headlines for rejecting a house as a parting gift and requesting for a borehole to be constructed for his community.

Daily Trust reports that Musa Usman, from Giljimmi in Birniwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State told his boss, an Indian, V. Verghese, the MD of a pharmaceutical company in Lagos that his community is suffering for acute water shortage and residents had to trek long distance to get water.

Verghese had offered to build Usman a house in appreciation for his diligence while working for him. He instead built the borehole on Usman’s request.

According to Daily Trust, Usman thanked Verghese for the gift, adding that he had no regrets rejecting the house offer.
