Gary Neville opens up on if it’s the right time to sack Ten Hag

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has lent his opinion on the debate surrounding Erik ten Hag getting the sack at Old Trafford.

In the wake of Manchester United’s disappointing 3-0 loss to arch-rivals Manchester City in the Premier League, the former Manchester United defender voiced his opinion that the club should not contemplate dismissing their manager, Erik ten Hag.

Sunday’s derby saw Erling Haaland shine with a brace and an assist for Phil Foden’s goal, which left Manchester United languishing in eighth place on the Premier League table, with five losses in their first ten fixtures.

Neville, speaking on Sky Sports, expressed his concern about the recent performances of the team, stating,

“The last few weeks, the performances have been so poor. At this moment in time, I can’t quite see a moment where they get out of it.”

However, Neville was adamant that changing the manager should not be the course of action.

He emphasized, “Changing the manager? Absolutely no chance; that’s not the right thing.”

Neville went on to provide some context to his stance by highlighting a common trend in football management, where success is often followed by a decline.

He noted, “Each manager has reached a level, and then it drops. It’s happening to Erik ten Hag before our eyes.”
