Ganduje loses in court in Kano House of Reps Tribunal verdict

In a recent development in Kano State, the National/State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, the son of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, against the outcome of the Rimin Gado/Dawakin Tofa/Tofa Federal House of Representatives constituency election.

TopNaija reports that Ganduje, represented by his legal counsel A.T Falola, had contested the victory of Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the aforementioned elections.

According to the results officially declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Jobe secured a total of 52,456 votes, while Ganduje received 44,809 votes.

Dissatisfied with the outcome, the APC candidate had lodged a petition challenging the results.

In the final verdict, the three-member panel of the Tribunal, presided over by Justice Flora Ngoz Azinge, ruled in favor of the respondents, dismissing Ganduje’s petition on the grounds of lacking merit.

The panel found that the petitioner had failed to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate his allegations against the respondents.

Furthermore, as part of the judgment, a fine of N200,000 was imposed on the petitioner, payable jointly and severally by the respondents.
