Gabriel Jesus Injury Bad News But Arsenal Can Do It

With the much anticipated Qatar world cup reaching its appropriate end, conversations slowly start to turn towards the various national leagues in Europe, and for the premier league, discussions switch to whether Arsenal still remains in shape to contend for the title despite Gabriel Jesus being injured.

Arsenal can win the Premier League this season, according to former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, despite forward Gabriel Jesus’ FIFA World Cup injury.

Prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup break, Arsenal, who finished in the fifth position the previous season, jumped five points clear at the top of the Premier League standings.

Gabriel Jesus, who made a stunning transfer from Manchester City to Arsenal recently suffered a right knee injury during Brazil’s 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar, and might be sidelined for up to three months for Mikel Arteta’s team.

Although the Gunners will undoubtedly suffer because of Jesus’ absence, Eriksson thinks the North London team can still win the English top-flight league championship this season.

“Gabriel Jesus’ injury is very bad news for Arsenal, but I still think they can win the Premier League,” Eriksson told OLBG.

He stressed:

“I haven’t seen much of Eddie Nketiah, but I have watched Arsenal a few times and I think Mikel Arteta is doing a fantastic job.

“It will be hard to beat Manchester City because they don’t lose many games, but Arsenal can do it.”

With the world cup final set to take place this weekend and possibly end the world tournament, excitement starts to build ahead to the return of club football, with certain clubs hoping for something more positive in time for the restart.
