Frank Lampard considers return to Chelsea

Frank Lampard, the former Chelsea boss, is reportedly considering a return to the club as their new caretaker manager. The ex-England midfielder has been linked with the position following the exit of Graham Potter.
According to The Times, Chelsea is considering appointing Lampard as their interim manager until the end of the season. The former Blues player is reportedly open to coming back to Stamford Bridge for the rest of the season.
Lampard previously managed Chelsea in 2019, where he guided the club to a top-four finish in the Premier League and to the final of the FA Cup. However, he was dismissed from his role in January 2021 due to a series of poor results.
The 44-year-old has been out of work since then and is said to be keen on returning to management. If appointed as the caretaker manager, Lampard would be replacing Potter, who recently left Chelsea to join Brighton & Hove Albion.
Lampard’s appointment would provide him with a chance to prove himself once again and potentially earn a longer-term contract at the club. The former midfielder has a strong connection to Chelsea, having spent 13 seasons at the club as a player, winning numerous trophies.
Chelsea is currently in a period of transition following the sack of Graham Potter with debates being that Julian Nagelsmann could emerge as the new coach of the Blues.
Frank Lampard however was seen in the stands watching the Chelsea vs. Liverpool fixture yesterday.
If Lampard returns to Chelsea as the caretaker manager, he will have the task of guiding the team to a top-four finish in the Premier League and potentially winning a trophy, such as the Champions League or the FA Cup.
