Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson suffers humiliation

It doesn’t matter who he once was, Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson gets put in his place during the local elections in the UK as he turned up to the polling station without a photo ID.

Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson encountered a setback while attempting to vote in the United Kingdom’s local elections when he forgot to bring his required photo ID. The incident occurred at a polling station in South Oxfordshire on Thursday, May 2, according to reports from PA media.

Polling station staff were compelled to deny Johnson entry to cast his ballot due to his failure to present the necessary identification, which had become a requirement under legislation introduced during his tenure as prime minister.

Johnson later returned with the required ID and was subsequently able to exercise his voting rights.

The requirement for photo ID to vote was implemented through the Elections Act 2022, enacted during Johnson’s time in office. However, the law faced significant criticism upon its introduction.

The UK’s Electoral Commission cautioned in 2023 that such regulations could potentially disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters, particularly affecting marginalized groups such as the unemployed and ethnic minorities.
