Former Manchester United star faces jail term over £45k debt
Former Manchester United star Anderson is facing serious legal trouble in his native Brazil after being ordered to pay £45,000 in unpaid child maintenance. The 36-year-old, known for winning four Premier League titles during his time at Old Trafford, has been told by a family court judge in Porto Alegre that he must serve 30 days behind bars if he doesn’t clear his debt.
The retired midfielder, who fathered nine children, has the option to serve his sentence under a ‘semi-open’ regime, which would allow him to work or study during the day but require him to spend nights in the notorious Irmao Miguel Dario Prison.
