Former Delta state commissioner dies after hosting meeting

The former commissioner for Housing in Delta State, Mr Joseph Ogeh, who served during the first term of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, is dead.

Ogeh, was said to have died in the early hours of Sunday after holding political meeting with friends.

The 56 year old reportedly held the meeting till 1am on Sunday, collapsed around 3am at his residence in Warri and was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

The deceased was also a former commissioner representing Isoko ethnic nationality on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Commission before his appointment as housing commissioner.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, on Monday, the governor commiserated with the deceased’s family, people of Isoko North Local Government Area and Oghara-Iyede community in particular.

“The news of his death was one of great shock and disbelief. As Commissioner for Housing and a member of the state’s Executive Council in our first term, Ogeh served diligently and demonstrated commitment to the unity and development of the state,” the statement read.
