If Alan Hutton had his way, the title Manchester City won ahead of Liverpool last Sunday will be removed from them and handed to Liverpool after the disorderly conduct of City fans.

The former Aston Villa defender said this as he called for points deductions to be introduced for pitch invaders after Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen was assaulted by fans at Man City.

The former defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the FA needs to take serious actions to protect players and create a deterrent for further “shocking” incidents.

In a footage revealed by Sky News from Sunday’s game, Olsen was seen being roughed up by fans as they stormed onto the pitch.

Though City issued a statement apologizing for the incident, Hutton believes something should be done and a deterrent set in place as the City invasion was a 3rd that happened this season.

The assault follows an attack on Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp by a Nottingham Forest fan after the play-off semi-finals.

Hutton suggests an automatic points deduction for the club whose fans invade pitches would certainly keep fans in their seats.

He told Football Insider saying:

“It’s shocking, to be quite honest. We’ve seen a lot more of it. Being on a football pitch should never scare or worry you. Moving forward, it’s getting like that. What I would do is just take points off teams. It would soon stop it.

“Say that happens at City and automatically you get a three-point deduction if anything like that happens. Man City don’t win the league.

“Next time they’re thinking about running on the pitch, they’ll think: ‘You know what? We can’t.’ Fine them heavily, deduct points and I’m sure it will stop.” He said

Liverpool fans will sure be happy if the English FA did that, but fair play should be given to Manchester City as they fought all season to be Champions, denying them that victory will end the season in an anti-climax.

Liverpool most certainly wouldn’t want that, and perhaps will be most focused on winning the next campaign instead.
