For An Easy Life I Would Have Stayed In Brighton—Graham Potter
Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, has stated that he is prepared for the increased scrutiny and pressure at Stamford Bridge.
He claimed that if he had desired an easy life, he would have remained in Brighton.
After taking over for Thomas Tuchel in September, Graham Potter oversaw a strong start before suffering back-to-back Premier League losses to Brighton and Arsenal.
Chelsea are now 13 points behind the leaders.
They will play Manchester City in a crucial Carabao Cup third-round matchup before traveling to play high-flying Newcastle United in their penultimate league game before the World Cup break.
Following a dismal run, Chelsea managers frequently face criticism, but Potter’s new co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have been careful to emphasize they have a long-term vision for the team.
Graham Potter stated on Tuesday when questioned about the atmosphere at the club:
“I would say it is a little bit unfair to assess Chelsea now because the change of ownership has happened. We are on a new direction, a new path and ultimately that is part of the challenge.
“If I wanted a nice easy life, I could have quite easily stayed working at Brighton in the Premier League and signed a new contract and been absolutely OK.
“And I wouldn’t have had too many questions about myself or pressure or sacking or anything like that.”
He added that “one of the reasons to come here as there were many, it’s a fantastic football club, potentially one of the best in the world that can compete for any major trophy.”
