FIFA Confirms New Migrant Death In Qatar

The ongoing World Cup in Qatar has claimed the life of another immigrant, according to FIFA, the international governing body of football.

The Qatar world cup has seen itself become a closely watched tournament that have brought to it a lot of controversy and criticism from the Western world, particularly when it relates to death of migrant workers, and as the reports state, world football body, FIFA has confirmed a new migrant death in the host country.

The ongoing World Cup in Qatar has claimed the life of another immigrant, according to FIFA, the international governing body of football.

The football organization expressed its “deep sadness” at the death of the migrant worker at the competition.

The Athletic reports that a Filipino immigrant in his 40s who was employed as a maintenance worker at a hotel used by Saudi Arabia’s national team as a training facility passed away early in the competition.

The incident involved a forklift truck, according to the report.

According to a statement given to the BBC:

“FIFA is deeply saddened by this tragedy and our thoughts and sympathies are with the worker’s family.

“As soon as FIFA was made aware of the accident, we contacted the local authorities to request more details…”

To find out what caused the migrant worker’s death, it was further said that investigations are ongoing.
