“The club of my heart” — Guardiola chooses between Barca and Manchester City
Eventually there was going to come a time that Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola would be faced to choose between Barcelona and his current team.
That time came at the FIFA Best Awards after the Spaniard was named the FIFA Best Men’s coach of the year following a treble winning season with the premier league side.
Poised with a choice of deciding which time was better in their era of dominance, the former Barcelona manager who led the Catalans also to a treble with the likes of Lionel Messi under his wing, said of the debate;
“I don’t know…it would be a good game! We will see who is the manager [in the opposite dugout]. Both are incredible teams,” choosing to play coy with the topic.
The Manchester City boss went on to praise his current side after the picking up the famous award for his achievements in the 2022/23 season, stating;
“Just being with them [the players], not winning or losing but just being with them, is the best award I can get as a manager, by far,”
However, Guardiola refuses to ignore his boyhood, praising Barcelona as the reason he stood at the podium to receive the award.
“Barca is the club of my heart, the reason I am here, it is part of my life.”
Once a Culer, always a Culer it would seem for Guardiola.
