PRESIDENT BUHARI RECEIVES GOVERANCE SUPPORT GROUP

The federal government has shared its plan to boost the remuneration of teachers in the country and their conditions of service, TopNaija reports.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Education for State, Chukwuemeka Uwajiuba, during the Seplat Energy Education Roundtable and STEP Certificate Award ceremony for trained teachers on Thursday March 17 in Benin, Edo state capital.

Before now, the teacher’s salary structure is dependent on where they work whether with the federal government, state, or private schools. Averagely, the federal government pays their workers between N40,000 to N66,000 per month. While the state pays between N20,000 to N50,0000 per month.

The Minister who was represented by his Technical Adviser, Mrs Muna Onuzo-Adetona, said President Muhammadu Buhari has been making instructive policies to bring about a robust reform in the education sector, especially in the teaching profession, to make it dynamic, nationally relevant, and globally competitive.

Uwajiuba said;

“The special salary scale for teachers in basic and secondary schools, including provision for rural posting, science teachers’ allowance, and other peculiar allowances are some of the juicy packages in the pipeline for teachers”
