Published

on

Femi Falana, a Nigerian Lawyer has called for the investigation of the murder of human rights advocate Thulani Maseko and the threats he faced in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Other human rights organizations such as the African Union Commission and the SADC have also condemned the murder. Falana has demanded that the government of Eswatini promptly investigate the murder and prosecute the perpetrators without delay.

He has also called for an end to the persecution of human rights lawyers and defenders and the impunity of perpetrators for these crimes in the country.

The murder of Maseko has been seen as part of the country’s persistent violations of human rights and repression of human rights lawyers and defenders.

The international community has been urged to hold the government of Eswatini accountable for Maseko’s death.

If the government fails to investigate the murder, international legal action may be pursued.
