Federal Government working to restore power supply – Minister

Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, on Thursday, made an apology for the electricity outage experienced by a lot of Nigerians across the nation.

As indicated by Mamman, the problem was caused by the breakdown of a number of National Integrated Power Plants supplying electricity to the public network.

The minister, who declared this on social media, guaranteed Nigerians that the problem would be fixed and power would soon be restored.

He stated, “I sincerely regret the recent Power outages across the Nation and the difficulties it has brought with it, and wish to assure my Fellow Nigerians that everyone involved is working assiduously to restore the National grid to its previous historical levels and exceed that.

“The problem is caused by the breakdown of some National Integrated Power Plants supplying electricity to the national grid.

“The plants are namely, Sapele, Afam, Olonrunsogo, Omotosho, Ibom, Egbin, Alaoji and Ihovbor. The Jebba Power Plant was shut down for annual maintenance.

“Seven other integrated Power plants, namely Geregu, Sepele, Omotosho, Gbarain, Omuku, Paras and Alaoji are experiencing gas constraints while the Shiroro hydroelectric power plant has water management issues.”

Sale Mamman was born 2 January, 1958. He is the current minister of power. He was sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari on 21 August 2019.

Mamman is from Taraba State. He holds a higher national diploma in electrical electronics from Kaduna Polytechnic, graduating in 1988. He also holds an MBA in business administration from Bayero University Kano, graduating in 2015.

He started his career in 1981 as a teacher in Technical School, Mubi, Adamawa State. In 1992, he transferred his service to Taraba State.

Mamman was promoted to the rank of assistant director in the ministry of works in Taraba State and retired in 2002. After his retirement, he became a full-time businessman and politician.
