The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has deployed some personnels to rescue five persons kidnapped in the early hours of Wednesday in a village along Pegi, in the Kuje area, Abuja.

A statement on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mariam Yusuf, said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, ordered a manhunt for the suspects.

Pegi axis has become notorious for abductions with over 20 persons kidnapped in the area in the last one year.

Recall that about 10 persons, including councillors and Kuje council workers were abducted in the area last month.

But the command, in the statement titled, ‘Police launch operation to rescue Pegi kidnap victims,’ urged members of the public to remain calm, while it intensified effort to liberate the victims unhurt and reunite them with their family members.

It added, “The Commissioner of Police FCT, Bala Ciroma, has ordered a manhunt to trail and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

“While enjoining residents to be security conscious and promptly report all suspicious movements, the command wishes to reiterate its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory.”
