Father of Anambra student accused of fake UTME result says he will not be seeking legal redress (Video)
Romanus Ejikeme, the father of Mmesoma Ejikeme, the Anambra pupil at the center of the UTME result controversy, has expressed his reliance on divine intervention, stating that he has left everything to God.
Mmesoma Ejikeme faced allegations from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of manually inflating her 2023 UTME result.
According to JAMB, Mmesoma’s actual score was 249, contradicting her claim of obtaining a score of 362.
In a bid to support its claim, JAMB released Mmesoma’s alleged original result, revealing an aggregate score of 249.
As a consequence, the board retracted her result and imposed a three-year ban on her participation in future UTME examinations.
During an interview with Channels TV on Tuesday, July 4, Mmesoma’s father, Romanus Ejikeme, conveyed his trust in God and stated his decision to abstain from seeking legal recourse.
In the interview, Mr. Ejikeme asserted that the result his daughter was claiming had been printed from the JAMB portal. He also expressed his belief that the board is acting against his daughter’s interests.
“My daughter did not commit any offense. She is innocent because she has consistently been a top student from secondary school until now. She is very studious and takes her education seriously. Sometimes she studies until daybreak to achieve good results. So she cannot commit such a crime,” he asserted.
Sharing further insights, Ejikeme, who disclosed that he is a musician and once won a competition in 1996 before becoming a motorcycle rider, emphasized his intention not to pursue legal action.
Instead, he stated that he would entrust the situation entirely to God’s providence.
“I am not doing anything. I will simply leave everything to God. God knows the truth,“ he said.
