Fate Doing the Work For Argentina? 3 French Players Down
Controversy was created some days ago after Morocco eliminated Portugal from the world cup in the quarter-final with Portugal players like Pepe picking offense with FIFA’s choice of the referee in the game, alleging Argentina was being given a free pass to the final.
Flash forward to the present day, and the Argentine national team is in the final but this time, reports suggest their next opponent, France might be in a disadvantageous position as 3 key players could be out for the fixture.
This sets the question, is Argentina fated to win the world cup considering every set piece seems to be falling in a favor of the Argentine and the route to the final?
The report states that a new fitness issue has been delivered to France ahead of the World Cup final matchup against Argentina on Sunday.
Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot were officially listed as questionable ahead of their semifinal matchup against Morocco due to illness.
The two were unable to watch France defeat Morocco 2-0 to get to the World Cup final.
Both Upamecano and Rabiot are working hard to be ready for Sunday’s match against Argentina.
Didier Deschamps, the manager of France, has now revealed that winger Kingsley Coman is the third member of his team to contract the sickness.
Rabiot was placed in an isolated hotel after it was claimed that the French team was worried about the “camel” virus, but there has been no confirmation that the team is afflicted with this particular ailment.
Deschamps said:
“Coman also had a fever this morning. In Doha, the temperatures have dropped a bit and you still have air conditioning on all the time. We have had a few cases of flu-like symptoms.
“We are trying to be careful so that it does not spread and the players have put in a great effort on the pitch and obviously their immune systems suffer.”
Deschamps continued by saying that Upamecano felt ill following the England game.
“Dayot Upamecano felt bad immediately after the game against England. It happens when you exert yourself so much, your body weakens and you are more prone to getting these viruses.
“We’re taking all the necessary precautions, we’re trying to make sure it doesn’t spread, but viruses are of course infectious and we have to take precautions against them.
“We’ll separate him from the others and from Adrien as well.”
Since Brazil’s victories in 1958 and 1962, France is attempting to become the first nation to claim back-to-back World Cup victories. Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, will be a challenging obstacle for the French.
